Educator Instructions
- Introduction (5 mins)
Greet students and introduce the topic: learning the ABCs with a fun video! Ask if they like Minions and Play-Doh to get them excited. - Video Viewing (5 mins)
Play the 'Minion | Play Doh ABC Song | Stop Motion Videos' video. Encourage students to sing along and point to the letters as they appear. - Letter Sound Review (5 mins)
After the video, go through some of the letters featured in the video. Say the letter and ask the students to repeat it. Then, say the sound the letter makes and have them repeat. For example: 'A, A says /a/!' - Play-Doh Letter Creation (10 mins)
Give each student a small amount of Play-Doh. Guide them in trying to create some of the letters they saw in the video. Focus on simple letters like 'O', 'C', 'I', or 'L'. - Sing the ABC Song Again (5 mins)
Sing the standard ABC song as a class to reinforce the video content.
Interactive Exercises
- Letter Sound Game
Call out a letter sound (e.g., '/b/') and have students jump up if they know what letter makes that sound. Repeat with different sounds. - Find the Letter!
Hide uppercase letter cards around the room. Have students search for them and bring them back to you. As they bring each card, have them say the letter's name.
