Educator Instructions
- Introduction (5 mins)
Greet the children and ask them if they know the alphabet song. Introduce Elmo and Ruben Studdard and explain that they will be singing the alphabet together. - Video Viewing (3 mins)
Play the "Sesame Street: Ruben Studdard And Elmo Sing Soul Alphabet" video. Encourage children to sing along with Elmo and Ruben. - Letter Practice (7 mins)
After the video, review the alphabet. Point to flashcards or a chart with uppercase and lowercase letters. Have the children name the letters. Focus on letters in their names. - Sound Association (5 mins)
Choose a few letters from the alphabet (e.g., A, B, C). Say the letter and then say a word that starts with that letter (e.g., A is for apple, B is for ball, C is for cat). Have the children repeat the letter and the word. - Activity - Alphabet Movement (5 mins)
Have students move in different ways that starts with a letter. For example, 'S' is for stomp and 'J' is for jump. - Wrap-up (5 mins)
