- Introduction (5 mins)
Begin by asking children what letters they already know. Introduce the video, explaining that they will be learning about the letter 'O' today. Get the children excited to learn! - Video Viewing (5 mins)
Play the Jack Hartmann 'Learn the Letter O' video. Encourage children to sing along, do the actions, and repeat the sounds. - Letter Formation Practice (5 mins)
Guide the children in practicing writing the uppercase 'O' and lowercase 'o' in the air with their fingers. Then, have them practice on paper or a whiteboard. Have them try to write the letter 'O' multiple times. - Sound Identification (5 mins)
Review the short and long 'O' sounds from the video. Say a few words, some with the 'O' sound and some without. Have the children raise their hands when they hear a word with the 'O' sound. Ask the children to point to their mouths when they make the short 'O' sound, and point to their ears when making the long 'O' sound. - Vocabulary Reinforcement (5 mins)
Show pictures of the 'O' words from the video (otter, octopus, ostrich, ocean, oboe, oatmeal). Ask the children to name each picture and repeat the word. Reinforce the sound of the letter 'O' in the name of the object. Have the children make the object sound in a group. - Wrap-up (5 mins)
Review what they learned about the letter 'O'. Sing the 'O' song again, encourage the children to sing along.

Place objects that start with the letter O, as well as uppercase and lowercase letter O cutouts in a sensory bin filled with rice or beans. Have students dig through to find the items and practice identifying them.
