Educator Instructions
- Introduction (5 mins)
Greet students and introduce the 'Dan and his Cap' video. Ask if they know what a cap and a map are. Show them a real cap and map if possible. - Video Viewing (5 mins)
Play the 'Dan and his Cap' video. Encourage students to listen carefully to the words. - Rhyming Word Exploration (10 mins)
After the video, ask students what words sounded alike. Focus on 'cap,' 'map,' and 'tap.' Say each word clearly and have the students repeat. Play a game where you say a word and they have to say one of the rhyming words from the video. - Letter Sound Focus (10 mins)
Focus on the initial sounds of 'cap,' 'map,' and 'tap.' Ask students what sound they hear at the beginning of each word. Use visual aids (pictures of a cap, map, tap) and write the letters 'c,' 'm,' and 't' on the board. Have the students practice saying the sounds. - Story Comprehension (5 mins)
Ask simple questions about the story: 'Who has a cap?' 'What is in the cap?' 'What happened to the cap and the map?' - Activity & Wrap Up (5 mins)
Have students draw a picture of Dan with his cap and map. Encourage them to try writing the words 'cap,' 'map,' or 'Dan' next to their picture (emergent writing). Review rhyming words and initial sounds.
Interactive Exercises

Say a word and have the students call out one of the rhyming words from the video (cap, map, tap). You can also use actions - wear a cap, hold a map, and turn on a tap - and have students say the corresponding word. - Sound Sort
