Educator Instructions

  • Introduction (5 mins)
    Greet the students and introduce the topic: the letter A. Show them a big letter A (uppercase and lowercase). Ask them if they know what letter it is. Tell them we are going to watch a fun video about the letter A.
  • Video Time (3 mins)
    Play the ABCmouse.com's "The Letter A Song" video. Encourage children to sing along.
  • Discussion (5 mins)
    After the video, ask the discussion questions below.
  • Activity: 'A' is for Apple (7 mins)
    Give each child a pre-cut apple shape (or let them cut one). Have them decorate it with crayons, markers, or stickers. While they decorate, review the letter A and words that start with A.
  • Activity: 'A' Word Hunt (5 mins)
    Hide pictures of items starting with 'A' (ant, apple, airplane, etc.) around the room. Have the children find the pictures and say the word aloud, emphasizing the 'A' sound.
  • Review and Wrap-up (5 mins)
    Sing the A song again as a class. Review the words they learned starting with the letter A. Give each child a sticker with the letter A on it.

    Provide worksheets with uppercase and lowercase A for tracing. Guide children to trace the letters correctly.
