Learning Objectives

Educator Instructions
- Introduction (5 mins)
Greet students and introduce the letter of the day: 'M'. Show them a picture of an uppercase 'M' and a lowercase 'm'. Ask them if they know any words that start with 'M'. - Video Time (5 mins)
Play "The Letter M Song" video. Encourage children to sing along and dance. Point out the 'M' words as they appear in the song. - M-Word Brainstorm (10 mins)
After the video, brainstorm 'M' words with the class. Write them on the board or a large sheet of paper. Examples: moon, monkey, mommy, mittens, marshmallows, milk, map, music, man. - M Sound Practice (5 mins)
Practice making the /m/ sound together. Emphasize pressing your lips together. Play a game where you say a word and the children say 'M' if it starts with the /m/ sound or nothing if it doesn't. - M is for...
Have the students draw a picture of something that starts with the letter M. - Letter Craft: M is for Monster!
Provide construction paper and craft supplies (googly eyes, pipe cleaners, etc.). Have students create a "M" monster. Start with cutting a large 'M' out of the construction paper. This reinforces letter recognition and fine motor skills. - Wrap-up (5 mins)
Review the letter 'M' and the words they learned. Sing the 'M' song again if time allows.
