Play 'The Letter W Song' video from ABCmouse.com. Encourage the children to clap, dance, and sing along. - Discussion and Word Identification (10 mins)
After the video, ask the students what they saw and heard in the song. Write down the W words they remember on the board or chart paper. Repeat the words clearly and emphasize the /w/ sound. - Interactive Activity: 'W' Word Hunt (10 mins)
Hide pictures of objects that start with 'W' (e.g., whale, watermelon, window, wagon) around the room. Have the children search for the pictures. As they find them, have them say the word and identify the beginning sound. - Craft Activity: 'W' is for Watermelon (10 mins)
Provide each child with a paper plate. Have them paint it red, then add green rind and black 'seeds' (using markers or paint) to create a watermelon. Talk about the word 'watermelon' and its /w/ sound. - Wrap Up (5 mins)
Review the letter W and the words learned. Sing the 'Letter W Song' again, encouraging everyone to participate.
