Educator Instructions
- Introduction (5 mins)
Greet the students and introduce the topic: the letter J. Ask if anyone knows any words that start with J. Show the uppercase and lowercase letter J on a whiteboard or chart. Explain that today we are going to watch a fun video about the letter J. - Video Viewing (3 mins)
Play the Bounce Patrol's 'The Letter J Song' video. Encourage students to sing along and make the /j/ sound when prompted. - Discussion (5 mins)
After watching the video, ask the students questions about the letter J and the words they learned. Review the uppercase and lowercase forms. Practice making the /j/ sound together. - Activity: 'J' Word Hunt (10 mins)
Have students find objects in the classroom or pictures that start with the letter J (or that sound like they start with J, for example, 'gem'). If no J objects are available, provide pictures. Alternatively, play 'Simon Says' using J words, e.g., 'Simon Says jump!' or 'Simon Says juggle!' - Writing Practice (7 mins)
Have students practice writing the uppercase and lowercase letter J on a worksheet or using playdough/sand. Provide guidance and support.
