- Introduction (5 mins)
Begin by introducing the concept of sight words. Explain that these are words we see often, and learning them helps us read better. Ask children if they know any sight words already. - Video Viewing (5 mins)
Play the "Sight Words | High Frequency Words, Memory Words, Popcorn Words Beginning Readers, Pre-Readers" video by FirstStepReading. Encourage children to read along with Bob. - Word Practice (5 mins)
After the video, write each sight word from the video (ball, one, but, can, did, do, does, four, from) on a whiteboard or large paper. Have children repeat each word after you. Point to the words randomly and ask children to identify them. - Sentence Creation (5 mins)
Create simple sentences using the sight words. For example: "I have a ball." or "Can I have one?" Read the sentences aloud, pointing to each word, and have the children repeat the sentences. Encourage children to make up their own sentences using the sight words. - Activity Worksheet (5 mins)
