Educator Instructions
- Introduction (5 mins)
Greet students and introduce the concept of reading. Ask them if they know any letters or words already. Briefly explain that they will be learning to read three-letter words with a fun video. - Video Viewing (5 mins)
Play the 'Reading. Educational Video For Children. Three Letter words Part 3' video from xkootv. Encourage students to try and read the words before the traffic light turns red. - Word Practice (10 mins)
After the video, write the words from the video on the board (e.g., CAT, DOG, SUN). Say each word aloud, emphasizing the sounds of each letter. Have the students repeat after you. Use flashcards with pictures and the words to reinforce learning. - Traffic Light Game (5 mins)
Create simple traffic light signals (red, yellow, green) using construction paper. Hold up a flashcard with a three-letter word. When the light is green, students try to read the word silently. When the light turns yellow, they get ready to say the word. When the light turns red, everyone says the word together. - Review and Wrap-up (5 mins)
Review the words learned during the lesson. Ask students to share their favorite word and draw a picture of it. Briefly preview what they will be learning in the next reading lesson.
Interactive Exercises
- Word Building
Provide students with letter blocks or magnetic letters. Call out a three-letter word and have them try to build it using the letters. - Picture Matching
