Educator Instructions
- Introduction (5 mins)
Greet students and introduce the letter of the day: I. Show a large uppercase I and lowercase i. Ask if anyone knows the letter. Explain that today, they'll learn all about the letter I by watching a fun video! - Video Time! (5 mins)
Play the 'Letter I Song' video. Encourage students to sing along and do the actions (writing I in the air). - I Spy Game (10 mins)
After the video, play an 'I Spy' game focusing on words from the song. For example, 'I spy with my little eye, something that starts with I and it's a place with cold air!' (Answer: Island). Then repeat using 'pig', 'big', 'sit', 'kite', and 'bike'. - Letter I Writing Practice (10 mins)
Have students practice writing the uppercase and lowercase I on paper or whiteboards. Guide them with verbal instructions (e.g., 'A big line down for uppercase I! A small line down and a dot for lowercase i!'). - Review and Wrap-up (5 mins)
Review the letter I and its sounds. Ask students to name words that start with I. Sing the 'Letter I Song' one last time. Praise their hard work!
