Educator Instructions
- Introduction (5 mins)
Begin by greeting the students and asking if they know any letters of the alphabet. Introduce the letter L and explain that they will be learning about it through a fun video. - Video Viewing (3 mins)
Play the 'The Letter L Song - Learn the Alphabet' video. Encourage students to sing along and do the actions in the video. - Letter L Sound Practice (5 mins)
After the video, practice making the /l/ sound together as a class. Have the students say 'la la la' like in the song. Emphasize the position of the tongue when making the sound. - L Word Recognition (7 mins)
Show flashcards or pictures of the words featured in the video (lion, lollipop, lamb, lemon, lobster, letter). Ask students to identify each object and repeat the word, emphasizing the 'L' sound. Encourage students to share if they know other words that start with L. - Letter L Formation (5 mins)
Have students practice writing the uppercase and lowercase letter L on a whiteboard or in the air. Guide them on the correct stroke order (straight line down).

- 'L' Sound Hunt
Hide pictures of objects around the room, some starting with L and some not. Have students search for the pictures and only collect the ones that start with the letter L. They should then say the name of the object emphasizing the 'L' sound. - Lollipop Creation
Provide students with circular paper cutouts and markers. Have them decorate their own 'lollipops'. As they decorate, encourage them to say the word 'lollipop' and the /l/ sound.
