Play the Jack Hartmann video 'Learn The Letter X'. Encourage students to sing along and do the actions. - Letter Formation (5 mins)
After the video, review how to write the uppercase and lowercase X. Have students practice writing the letter X in the air with their fingers. Emphasize the direction of the strokes. - Sound and Word Recognition (5 mins)
Practice saying the /x/ sound together. Ask students to listen for the /x/ sound in words. Review the words from the song: fox, ox, rex, flex, tux, sax, fix, relax. Show pictures of each word. - Interactive Activity (5 mins)
Play a game where students have to stand up when they hear a word with the /x/ sound. Call out various words, some with the /x/ sound and some without. - Wrap Up (5 mins)
Review what they learned about the letter X. Sing the chorus of the song one more time. Encourage students to look for the letter X in books and around the classroom.
