Begin by asking students if they know any words that start with the letter 'O'. Show them a picture of an ostrich and introduce the word. Tell them that they will be learning how to write the letter 'O' today. - Video Time (5 mins)
Play the YouTube video 'Write the letter O | Alphabet Writing lesson for children | The Singing Walrus'. Encourage the students to watch carefully and listen to the instructions. - Practice Writing - Uppercase O (5 mins)
Using the free practice sheet (or plain paper), guide students to write the uppercase 'O'. Remind them to start at the top and make a big circle to the left, as demonstrated in the video. Circulate and provide individual assistance as needed. - Practice Writing - Lowercase o (5 mins)
Now, guide students to write the lowercase 'o'. Remind them to start in the middle and make a small circle to the left. Again, circulate and provide assistance. - Wrap-up & Review (5 mins)
Review the uppercase and lowercase 'O/o'. Ask students to point out the letters on the practice sheet or around the classroom. Encourage them to say the word 'ostrich' and identify the 'O' sound.
