Play the YouTube video "The Lad - Book 3 of the Fantastic Phonics Early Reading Series". Encourage students to listen carefully to the story and look at the pictures. - Story Discussion (10 mins)
After watching the video, engage students in a discussion about the story. Ask questions about the characters, what happened in the story, and how the characters felt. - Rhyming Words Activity (5 mins)
Focus on the rhyming words in the story (e.g., ball, wall). Say each word slowly and ask students if they sound alike. Provide other examples of rhyming words. - Phonics Sound Activity (5 mins)
Focus on the letter and sounds in the book such as: 'L' makes the 'l' sound like lion and lad. Encourage children to try. - Retelling the Story (5 mins)
Have students retell the story in their own words. You can provide prompts, such as 'First, the lad...', 'Then, he...', 'Finally, the dad...'. Guide them to re-enact key parts with movement. - Drawing Activity (10 mins)
Provide students with drawing materials. Ask them to draw their favorite part of the story. Encourage them to label their drawings with simple words or letters they know.
