  • Introduction (5 mins)
Begin by asking students what sound the letter 'o' makes (short 'o' sound). Show a picture of an object that starts with the short 'o' sound (e.g., octopus, orange) to reinforce the sound. Discuss any words they already know with the short 'o' sound.

  • Word Practice (10 mins)
After the video, write each word from the video on the board or use flashcards: LOG, DOG, BOX, FOX, MOP, HOP, DOT, HOT, TOP, POP. Read each word together as a class. Then, have individual students come up and read the words. Use actions or pictures to help them understand the meaning of each word. For example, act like you are mopping the floor for 'mop'.
  • Sound Blending Activity (10 mins)
Write the letters 'b', 'h', 'p' on the board. Ask students to blend each letter with 'og' to make 'bog', 'hog', 'pog'. Do the same with 'op' and 'ot'. This reinforces sound blending and helps them create simple three letter words.
