  • Introduction (5 mins)
    Begin by asking students what letter they think they will be learning about today. Show them a large uppercase and lowercase 'O'. Ask if they know any words that start with that letter.
  • Video Time! (5 mins)
    Watch the Sesame Street: The O Network video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ztq1Kjc7vnw). Remind students to listen carefully for words that start with the letter O.
  • Discussion (5 mins)
    After the video, ask students what they saw in the video. What characters were there? What objects began with the letter O?
  • Activity: O Word Brainstorm (10 mins)
    As a class, brainstorm words that start with the letter O. Write them on the board or a large piece of paper. Encourage students to share any words they can think of, even if they're unsure. Example words: orange, octopus, oval, oboe, on, off, over.
  • Craft Time: O is for Orange (10 mins)
    Provide students with orange construction paper, crayons, and scissors. Have them draw and color an orange, then cut it out. You can also provide orange-scented markers for a sensory experience.

Interactive Exercises

  • Letter O Hunt
    Hide uppercase and lowercase 'O' cutouts around the room. Have students find them and bring them back to you. As they bring each letter, have them say the sound it makes and a word that starts with 'O'.
  • O is for Obstacle Course
    Create a small obstacle course. Before each obstacle, have the students name a word that starts with O.
