Educator Instructions
- Introduction (5 mins)
Greet students and introduce the topic: the letter 'W'. Ask if anyone knows what the letter 'W' looks like or if they know any words that start with 'W'. Briefly discuss. - Video Viewing (3 mins)
Play the Sesame Street 'Letter W' video. Instruct students to pay attention to the letter and the words that begin with it. - Post-Video Discussion (7 mins)
After the video, ask students what they saw. What were some words that started with the letter 'W'? Write the letter 'W' (uppercase and lowercase) on the board. Pronounce the sound of 'W' clearly and have the students repeat it. - Interactive Activity: 'W' Word Brainstorm (10 mins)
Brainstorm with the class to create a list of words that begin with the letter 'W'. Write the words on the board with simple pictures next to them. For example: Water (draw a cup of water), Window (draw a window), Wagon (draw a wagon). Have them repeat the words.
