Educator Instructions
- Introduction (5 mins)
Begin by greeting the students and asking if they know the alphabet song. Ask them to name some letters they already know. Introduce Bounce Patrol and the video they will be watching. - Video Viewing (3 mins)
Play the 'Alphabet Song - ABC Song | Learn the Alphabet ABCs | ABC Songs for Children' video from Bounce Patrol. - Sing-Along and Repetition (5 mins)
Play the video again. This time, encourage the students to sing along with Bounce Patrol. Pause after each verse (all, boys, girls, quiet, loud) and emphasize the pronunciation of each letter. Encourage them to do the actions (quiet voice, loud voice). - Letter Recognition Activity (7 mins)
Show large flashcards with individual letters (both uppercase and lowercase). Ask students to name the letter. You can also play a game: "I spy with my little eye, a letter that looks like this [draw the letter in the air]!" - Alphabet Line Activity (5 mins)
Point to an alphabet line in the classroom (if available) or draw one on the board. Sing the alphabet song while pointing to each letter. Have students come up and point to letters you call out.
Interactive Exercises
- Alphabet Scavenger Hunt
Hide letter flashcards around the room. Have students find the letters and bring them back to you. As they bring them back, have them name the letter and say a word that starts with that letter. - Letter Drawing
Give each student a piece of paper and crayons or markers. Have them draw their favorite letter (uppercase or lowercase). Help them write the letter correctly.
