- Introduction (5 mins)
Greet the students and introduce the letter of the day: 'G'. Show them a large uppercase 'G' and a lowercase 'g'. Ask if anyone knows the letter. Tell them today they are going to learn the letter G with a fun song! - Video Time! (5 mins)
Play 'The Letter G Song' by ABCmouse.com (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCAMvnCx2X8). Encourage students to sing along and point out the letter 'G' whenever they see it. - Word Exploration (10 mins)
After the video, write some 'G' words from the song on a whiteboard or large paper (gummy, gulp, goo, gobble, goo, gorillas, ghosts, gooey, gurgle, goopy, gushy, giggle, goldfish, guppy, gallopin', galoshes). Say each word clearly and have the children repeat after you. Discuss what each word means and try to connect it to their experiences. - G is for...
Ask students to think of words that start with the letter G. Write them on the board. Prompt with questions like "What is something green?" or "What food is good?" - Craft Time: G is for Grapes (10 mins)
Provide each student with a piece of paper with a large 'G' drawn on it. Have them glue small, purple pom-poms or construction paper circles onto the 'G' to create a 'G' is for Grapes craft. - Review and Wrap-up (5 mins)
Review the letter 'G' and the 'G' words learned during the lesson. Sing the 'Letter G Song' again as a final activity.
