  • Introduction (5 mins)
    Greet the students and introduce the concept of syllables. Ask them if they know what syllables are. Explain that syllables are like 'beats' in a word.
  • Video Time! (5 mins)
    Play the "Clap Our Syllables" video by Jack Hartmann. Encourage students to clap along with the video and follow the actions.
  • Practice Together (10 mins)
    After the video, review the words from the video. Say each word slowly and clap out the syllables together as a class. For example, say 'dog' and clap once. Say 'rainbow' and clap twice (left and right).
  • Group Activity: Syllable Sorting (10 mins)
    Divide the students into small groups. Provide each group with picture cards of various objects (e.g., sun, apple, banana, cat, etc.). Have them clap out the syllables for each picture and sort the cards into groups based on the number of syllables (1, 2, or 3).
  • Wrap-Up (5 mins)
    Bring the class back together and review what they learned about syllables. Ask each group to share some of the words they sorted and how many syllables they have.

  • Syllable Hop
