- Students will be able to arrange pictures in the correct sequence to tell a story.
Educator Instructions
- Introduction (5 mins)
Greet the students and introduce the topic of sequencing. Ask them if they know what it means to put things in order. Briefly explain that sequencing means putting things in the order they happen. - Video Viewing (10 mins)
Play the 'Sequencing Stories - Episode 2' video. Pause after each story to ask simple comprehension questions (e.g., 'What happened first in the popcorn story?', 'What did the girl do in the middle of cleaning her room?'). - Picture Sequencing Activity (15 mins)
Distribute picture cards representing events from the video (e.g., a messy room, a girl making the bed, a girl putting clothes in a hamper). Have the students work individually or in small groups to arrange the cards in the correct order to retell the story. Provide prompting and assistance as needed. - Class Discussion and Review (10 mins)
Bring the class back together and discuss the correct order of each story. Have students explain why they arranged the pictures in a certain way. Reinforce the concepts of beginning, middle, and end.
Interactive Exercises
- Story Retell
Have individual students pick a story from the video and verbally retell it in the correct order, using the pictures as prompts. - Act It Out
