Educator Instructions
- Introduction (5 mins)
Begin by introducing the concept of 'sequencing' – what happens first, next, and last in a story. Ask students if they know what happened first today. Then explain that the video will show simple stories and we'll talk about what happens in each one. - Video Viewing (10 mins)
Play the YouTube video 'Sequencing Stories - Episode 5'. Encourage students to watch carefully and listen for what happens first, next, and last in each story. - Story Discussion (10 mins)
After watching each story segment, pause and ask questions about the order of events. Focus on the Sandcastle, Brushing Teeth, and Building Blocks stories. - Activity Time (10 mins)
Lead a story sequencing activity with printable cards (if available) or by drawing simple pictures representing events from one of the stories (Sandcastle). Have students arrange the pictures in the correct order on the board. - Wrap-up (5 mins)
Review the concept of sequencing. Remind students that stories have a beginning, middle, and end, and that understanding the order helps us understand the story.
Interactive Exercises
- Sandcastle Sequencing Cards
Provide pre-printed cards showing the girl with a bucket, the finished sandcastle, and the wave washing it away. Have students arrange them in the correct order. - Brushing Teeth Role-Play
