Educator Instructions
- Introduction (5 mins)
Begin by asking students if they know what it means when two things are 'the same.' Show them two identical objects and explain that they are the same. Explain that words can also be the same, or mean the same thing. Introduce the word 'synonym.' - Watch the Video (3 mins)
Play the 'Synonyms | English For Kids | Mind Blooming' video. Encourage the children to listen carefully for examples of synonyms. - Discuss the Video (5 mins)
After watching the video, ask students what they learned. What are synonyms? Can they remember any of the examples from the video? (small/tiny, big/huge, warm/hot, love/adore/admire) - Synonym Game (7 mins)
Play a synonym game! Say a word (e.g., happy) and ask the children to shout out other words that mean the same (e.g., glad, joyful). Repeat with other simple words like sad, mad, good, bad. - Synonym Matching Activity (5 mins)
Prepare simple cards with pictures of objects and words. Have pairs of cards with synonyms (e.g., a picture of a small ant and the word 'tiny'). Ask the children to match the cards that mean the same thing.
