- Introduction (5 mins)
Begin by asking the students if they know that some words look alike, but mean something different. Explain that those words are called homographs. Announce that today, you're going to watch a fun video about homographs. - Video Viewing (5 mins)
Play the MilkTeeth TV video: HOMOGRAPHS - Confusing Words with Same Spelling but Different Meaning | List & Examples. Encourage the children to watch attentively. - Discussion and Examples (10 mins)
After the video, discuss the different homographs presented. Show the kids physical objects such as the bar from the lesson (chocolate bar, iron bar used to excercise) to help them understand the meaning. - Activity: Homograph Charades (10 mins)
Write down homographs presented on pieces of paper. Pick one and have a child act out the word, but only one meaning. Have the other children guess the word and the meaning. The child who correctly guesses can be the next one to act.
