Educator Instructions

  • Introduction (5 mins)
    Begin by asking students what their favorite colors are. Briefly discuss why they like those colors. Introduce the video, explaining that they will be learning to read color words.
  • Video Viewing (5 mins)
    Play the "How to Read Colors" video from Miacademy Learning Channel. Encourage students to repeat the color words after the presenter.
  • Word Review (10 mins)
    After the video, write each color word on the board (red, blue, white, gray, black, violet, green, purple, orange, brown, pink, yellow, silver, gold, turquoise). Point to each word and have the students say it together. Then, call on individual students to read the words.
  • Color Matching Activity (10 mins)
    Prepare colored objects or pieces of paper. Hold up an object or paper and ask students to identify the color. Then, ask them to read the color word on the board. For example, hold up a red apple and ask, "What color is this? Can you read the word 'red'?"
  • Wrap-up (5 mins)
    Review the color words learned. Ask students to name their favorite color from the lesson and why they like it.
