- Introduction (5 mins)
Teacher introduces the lesson and asks students if they have pets. Discuss the names of pets and how families choose names. - Video Viewing (5 mins)
Play the YouTube video 'English Language - Grade 1: The Puppy & the Kitten'. Remind students to listen carefully to the story. - Comprehension Questions (10 mins)
Ask the comprehension questions from the video: What animals did they adopt? What does the kitten like to do? What is the puppy's name going to be? Who thought the names were perfect? Encourage students to refer back to the story if needed. - Drawing and Writing Activity (15 mins)
Students draw a picture of a puppy and a kitten. They then write the words 'puppy' and 'kitten' below each picture. Encourage them to try and spell the words themselves, and then ask for help if needed. Finally, students will write a sentence about their puppy or kitten. - Wrap-up (5 mins)
Review the main points of the story and the lesson. Praise students for their participation and effort.
