- Introduction (5 mins)
Begin by asking students if they know how to count to 90. Show the video 'Learn Grade 1 - Maths - Introducing 90 to 99 | Kids Classroom'. Explain that today, we will learn all about the numbers from 90 to 99. - Counting with Tens and Ones (10 mins)
Using blocks, pencils, or other objects, demonstrate how 90 is made up of 9 groups of ten. Then, add one object at a time and count to 99 (91 is 9 groups of ten and 1 one, 92 is 9 groups of ten and 2 ones, etc.). - Number Writing Practice (10 mins)
Give students a worksheet with the numbers 90 to 99 listed in order and out of order. Have them practice writing each number. Also, have them write the number names (ninety, ninety-one, etc.). - Ascending and Descending Order (5 mins)
Practice counting up from 90 to 99 (ascending order) and down from 99 to 90 (descending order). Use the number line as a visual aid. - Activity Time! (10 mins)
Have students use manipulatives to represent numbers between 90 and 99. For example, ask them to show you 95 using ten-sticks and unit cubes. Then, have them write the corresponding number and number name.
