Educator Instructions
- Introduction (5 mins)
Begin by introducing Starry and the concept of counting. Ask students if they like to count and what they like to count (e.g., toys, fingers, toes). - Counting Kites (5 mins)
Play the video from the beginning and stop after the kite counting segment. Ask students to count along with the video. Pause and ask individual students to count the kites shown on the screen. - Counting Children (5 mins)
Continue the video and stop after the segment where they count the children. Again, encourage students to count along. Ask them to point to each child as they count. Ask: “If one more child came, how many would there be?” - Counting Balloons (5 mins)
Finish playing the balloon counting segment. Emphasize the counting process. Ask students to draw their own set of balloons (up to 5) and label each with the correct number. - Wrap Up (5 mins)
Review the numbers 1 to 5. Ask students to give examples of things they see around the classroom that can be counted (e.g., chairs, books, windows).

- Counting Objects Around the Room
Have students count various objects around the classroom, such as pencils, crayons, or blocks. Have them work in small groups and share their findings with the class. - Number Matching Game
Create a matching game where students match numeral cards (1-5) with corresponding picture cards showing groups of objects (1-5). This can be done as a whole class activity or in small groups.
