Educator Instructions
- Introduction (5 mins)
Begin by asking students if they know how to count by 10s. Explain that skip counting is a faster way to count. Tell them they will learn a song to help them skip count by 10. - Video Viewing (3 mins)
Play the 'Skip Count by 10: EASY SONG!' video. Encourage students to sing along. - Practice (7 mins)
Write the numbers 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100 on the board. Point to each number as a class and have students say it out loud. Ask what they notice about all the numbers (they all end in 0). Practice skip counting as a class without looking at the board. - Dimes Activity (5 mins)
Explain that each dime is worth 10 cents. If you have 3 dimes, how many cents do you have? (30 cents) Use real or play dimes to visually represent skip counting. Show them different amounts of dimes and have them count by 10s to find the total value.

Use a number line from 0-100. Have students take turns hopping along the number line, landing only on numbers that are multiples of 10. - Counting with Blocks
Give each student a set of ten blocks. Have them create groups of ten. Then, have them count by 10s to find the total number of blocks as they add groups.
