- Introduction (5 mins)
Begin by asking students if they know what a dime is. Show them a real dime or a picture of one. Tell them that today, they will learn all about dimes! - Video Viewing (7 mins)
Play the YouTube video "Grade 1: Saxon Math Lesson #45 Counting American Dimes". Encourage students to pay attention to the details of the dime and how to count them. - Discussion (5 mins)
After the video, have a class discussion about what they learned. Ask questions about the president on the dime, what's on the back, and how much a dime is worth. Review counting by tens. - Practice Counting (10 mins)
Provide students with manipulatives (real or play dimes). Give them different numbers of dimes and have them count to find the total value. Start with small numbers (2-5) and gradually increase the number of dimes.
