  • Video Viewing (7 mins)

  • Guided Practice (10 mins)
    Lead the class through a series of examples similar to those in the video. Use physical objects (crayons, blocks) or drawings on the board. Ask students to identify the longest and shortest objects, and then to order them from longest to shortest/ tallest to shortest. Encourage them to explain their reasoning.
  • Independent Practice (8 mins)
    Provide students with a worksheet containing pictures of various objects. Ask them to order the objects by length or height. The worksheet can include lines of varying lengths, or pictures of everyday objects like trees, houses, and animals.

  • Comparing Classroom Objects
    Have students compare the lengths of different objects in the classroom (desks, chairs, books). Ask them to use the terms 'longer', 'shorter', and 'taller' to describe their observations. Provide blocks or other uniform units for indirect comparison.
  • Ordering Activity
    Provide students with a set of pre-cut strips of paper of different lengths. Have them work individually or in small groups to order the strips from longest to shortest. This can be done on their desks or on a larger piece of paper.
