Introduce the Numberock video as a fun way to learn skip counting by 5s. - Video Viewing (3 mins)
Play the "5 Times Table Song | Skip Counting by 5 Rap For Kids" video. Encourage students to sing along and dance to the beat. - Guided Practice (10 mins)
After the video, write the numbers 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 on the board. Point to each number and have the class say it together. Ask: 'What comes next?' Continue the pattern up to 60. Use visual aids like fingers or drawings to represent the numbers. Explain that each number is 5 more than the last. - Interactive Activity (10 mins)
Play a 'Counting by 5s' game. Have students stand in a circle. Start with one student saying '5,' the next says '10,' and so on. If a student hesitates or says the wrong number, they are out. Continue until only one student remains. Alternatively, use manipulatives such as counters to visually demonstrate groups of five. - Wrap Up (2 mins)
Recap the skip counting sequence by 5s. Ask students to share one thing they learned about skip counting by 5s.
