Educator Instructions
- Introduction (5 mins)
Begin by asking students if they have ever been to a library. What did they do there? Discuss the importance of libraries in the community. - Video Viewing (10 mins)
Watch the "Library | Virtual Field Trip | KidVision Pre-K" video. Encourage students to pay attention to the different areas of the library and the rules they hear. - Discussion (10 mins)
After watching the video, discuss what they saw and learned. Focus on library rules, what librarians do, and the different types of resources available at the library. - Activity: Library Role Play (15 mins)
Divide the class into small groups. Have some students role-play as librarians and others as library users. Library users can ask for help finding specific books (e.g., a book about dogs, a book about turtles). Librarians can help them find the books and remind them of library rules. - Wrap Up (5 mins)
Review the key concepts of the lesson. Reiterate the importance of libraries and the joy of reading.
Interactive Exercises
- Library Scavenger Hunt (Classroom)
