- Introduction (5 mins)
Greet the students and ask if they've ever heard funny phrases that didn't quite make sense. Introduce the topic of idioms. - Video Time (7 mins)
Play the 'Idioms for Kids' video from Learn Bright. Encourage students to pay attention to the examples of idioms. - Discussing Idioms (8 mins)
After the video, discuss what an idiom is. Ask if anyone remembers any examples from the video. Explain each idiom in simple terms. - Idiom Charades (10 mins)
Prepare simple idiom charades. Act out the *literal* meaning of the idiom and have the children guess the idiom (e.g., act out rain with pretend dogs and cats falling). - Drawing Idioms (10 mins)
Give each student a piece of paper and crayons. Have them draw a picture of what an idiom sounds like (e.g., draw cats and dogs falling from the sky for 'raining cats and dogs').
