- Introduction (5 mins)
Begin by asking the children about things they know that are alike or different. Show them the video 'Compare and Contrast for Kids | Learn how to compare and contrast anything!' from Learn Bright. - Apples & Oranges Discussion (10 mins)
After watching the video, use real apples and oranges. Ask: 'What's the same about these?' (Both fruits, roundish, etc.) Then ask: 'What's different?' (Color, peel, taste, etc.). - Basketball & Soccer Ball Exploration (10 mins)
Show pictures of a basketball and a soccer ball. Guide the children to compare and contrast them: 'What do you see that is the same?' 'What do you see that is different?' - Story Time: Noah & Ava (10 mins)
Re-read the story of Noah and Ava from the video transcript. Ask the children to identify how they are the same and how they are different. Use simple language and prompts. - Activity: You and Me! (10 mins)
Have children pair up. Each pair tells each other one way they are the same and one way they are different. Help them if needed. - Wrap-up and Review (5 mins)
Review the concepts of 'same' and 'different.' Ask questions like 'Is a cat and dog same or different?' and reinforce their understanding.
Interactive Exercises
- Sorting Game
Provide a basket of mixed toys (e.g., cars, animals). Ask the children to sort them into groups based on similarities (e.g., all the cars together, all the animals together). - Drawing Comparisons
