- Introduction (5 mins)
Begin by asking students if they know what it means to 'connect' things. Show them examples like connecting train tracks or linking hands. Introduce the idea that words can also be connected. - Watch the Video (7 mins)
Play the 'Coordinating Conjunctions FANBOYS' video by Learn Bright. Encourage students to pay attention to the FANBOYS acronym and the examples given. - FANBOYS Explanation (5 mins)
After the video, write FANBOYS on the board. Explain what an acronym is and go through each letter, explaining what the word is and giving simple examples, like 'I like apples and bananas.' - Practice Together (8 mins)
Use simple sentences and ask students which FANBOYS word would fit best. For example: 'I want to play ____ read a book.' (or). Or 'The sun is bright ____ warm.' (and)
