Educator Instructions
- Introduction (5 mins)
Begin by asking students if they have ever used a computer. Discuss what computers are used for and why it's important to treat them with care. Introduce the video and explain they will be learning how to start and shut down a computer like a pro! - Video Viewing (7 mins)
Play the YouTube video "MUST-KNOW HOW TO START AND SHUT DOWN A COMPUTER | COMPUTER BASICS FOR KIDS | Kids Computer Learning". Encourage students to pay close attention to the steps shown. - Discussion (5 mins)
After the video, review the steps for starting and shutting down a computer. Use simple language and visuals if possible. Show pictures of the power buttons and the start button. - Desktop Exploration (5 mins)
If possible, show a live computer screen. Point out the desktop, icons, and taskbar. Explain what each is used for. If a computer is unavailable, use a printed image of a desktop. - Activity: Computer Start-Up/Shut-Down Sequencing (8 mins)
Provide students with picture cards showing the steps to start and shut down a computer (main power, UPS, CPU, monitor, start button, power button, shutdown option). Have them arrange the cards in the correct order. This can be done individually or in small groups.
