After the video, review the key concepts. Ask students to share what they learned about place value, expanded form, and word form. - Practice Activity 1: Place Value Chart (15 mins)
Provide students with a place value chart (up to millions). Give them various numbers and have them write the numbers in the chart, identifying the value of each digit. For example: 3,456,789. What is the value of the 4? (400,000) - Practice Activity 2: Expanded Form (15 mins)
Give students numbers in standard form and have them write the numbers in expanded form. Then, give them numbers in expanded form and have them write them in standard form. For example: 5,000,000 + 200,000 + 30,000 + 4,000 + 100 + 50 + 6 = ? or 7,890,123 = ? - Practice Activity 3: Word Form (10 mins)
Give students numbers in standard form and have them write the numbers in word form. Then, give them numbers in word form and have them write them in standard form. For example: 1,234,567 = ? or One million, two hundred thirty-four thousand, five hundred sixty-seven = ? - Wrap Up (5 mins)
