Educator Instructions
- Introduction (5 mins)
Begin by asking students what their favorite books are. Show the video 'How to Read a Book'. Briefly introduce the topic: learning how to treat books with respect and learn their parts. - Video Viewing (5 mins)
Play the video 'How to Read a Book' from Miacademy Learning Channel. Encourage students to pay attention to the different parts of the book and how to handle it correctly. - Discussion (10 mins)
After the video, lead a discussion about the key points. Ask questions like: What are some things that can hurt a book? How should we turn the pages? What is the front of the book called? Why is it important to keep books clean? - Book Exploration (10 mins)
Give each student a book. Have them identify the front cover, back cover, and spine. Guide them in practicing how to open and turn the pages carefully. Emphasize keeping their hands clean. - Activity: Bookmark Creation (10 mins)
Provide students with paper strips, crayons, and markers. Have them create their own bookmarks. Explain that bookmarks help keep their place in a book without bending the pages. - Wrap-up (5 mins)
